San Francisco Giants Win 2012 World Series

The San Francisco Giants have won their second World Series in three years with a 4-3 victory and series sweep over the Detroit Tigers.

The Giants took an early 1-0 lead on a Brandon Belt triple but the Tigers regained the lead on Miguel Cabrera's two-run home run. That lead would change on a sixth inning, two-run homer by Giants catcher Buster Posey giving his team a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Delmon Young tied it up with a solo shot. The game went into the 10th knotted at three when NLCS MVP Marco Scutaro looped a single to center, scoring Ryan Theriot and giving the Giants a 4-3 lead. With two outs and Cabrera up for the Tigers, the likely MVP candidate struck out looking.

World Series MVP honors went to third baseman Pablo Sandoval who hit .500 (8-16) and a three home run performance in Game 1.

Other notes: Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder only hit .071 in the World Series. Giants closer Sergio Romo had three saves in four games.
