Darien Going For Green Winners & Biz After Hours

The 6th Annual Darien Chamber Going for Green Awards and Biz After Hours was a well-attended event hosted by TD Bank in Darien, and enjoyed by chamber members, prospective members, guests and contest winners. The evening included the launch of the Chamber's "I ♥ Darien" glow in the dark bracelet program designed as a fund raiser for the Darien Holiday Lighting Fund. It was also the kick off for the May Chamber Membership Drive. During May, there is a "Member Rewards Program" for chamber members who sign up a new member including a choice of: Bottle of Wine, 2 Free Tickets to regular Biz After Hours, Your Business in Spotlight on Member Feature of the Monthly E Bulletin or a $25 Townwide Gift Certificate. There is also a "Membership Drive Goodie Bag" for new members including donations from: Christine Hamilton Hall, MD, DMD, Darien Chamber, Darien Doughnut, Darien Rowayton Bank, Helen Ainson, Office Suites of Darien and Williams & Company.

The first award of the evening went to Grisel Cruz, owner of Peartree's Salon at 1950 Post Road, who received the "Going For Green Business Award" for her change out to Organic hair coloring/care products and the "Re-fill Your Shampoo Bottle" program for customers.

Going For Green Poster runner up was DHS junior Olivia Piazza and Going For Green Poster First Place winner was Kate Fitzmaurice. Kate will be attending Saint Mary's College Notre Dame, IN in the fall. The Darien Chamber has coordinated the poster contest with the help of Dorine Bosler~DHS Graphic Arts Instructor.

All winners and Ms. Bosler received a "Living Air Purifier Plant" courtesy of Nielsen's Florist and a Going For Green Certificate. The student winners also received goodie bags that included donations from: Choose to Reuse, Darien Doughnut, Darien Chamber of Commerce, Darien Rowayton Bank, TD Bank and Uncles' Deli.

Door prizes donated by TD Bank and the Darien Chamber were won by: Michele Esposito~The Waters Edge at Giovanni's, Sima Paknejad~Fun Craft/Goodwives Plaza and Patti Stuebe~Wells Fargo Advisors/Darien.
