If you're like me, coffee matters. It's the way I start my day, and I'm fussy about what I put in my cup. Recently, we got a Keurig, after we visited my mother and my seven year-old son fell in love with using her machine to make his own hot chocolate.
The two things I didn't like about the Keurig were the expense of the K-cups relative to grinding my own beans and what struck me as a colossal waste of plastic.
Then I discovered reusable pods - little baskets with hinged lids that you can fill with your own freshly ground coffee - or tea - place in the Keurig for brewing, then rinse out for the next use. They do require a little more effort than popping in a K-cup and throwing it away, but they enable you to use your own favorite coffee, and they're good for the environment, too.
