Breakfast (and lunch) Treats at The Granola Bar

Yesterday I made my first visit to Westport's hottest new breakfast destination---The Granola Bar---located near The Organic Market and Pure Barre in the healthiest shopping plaza in town, Playhouse Square.

Everything was so good, I had to go back today.

On my first visit, I tried the Avocolada smoothie, a devastatingly delicious pale green concoction featuring fresh avocado, pineapple, coconut water, and lime juice. I paired it with two of their signature treats---The Granola Bar, and a variation made with Nutella. I took it all with me to Compo Beach, where I sat on a bench, soaked up the early spring sun, and indulged in a healthy and tasty breakfast.

This morning, I repeated my choice of the Nutella granola and tried a coffee combo called the Hit and Run, a cup of hand-brewed java to go, along with shot of espresso while you wait. The wait was about five minutes for the coffee, and I watched as the barista ground the beans, placed them in a filter, and slowly poured boiling water over them and into a glass pot. The resulting brew was unlike any coffee I had ever tasted---strong, smooth, and extremely satisfying.

The Granola Bar also offers a complete menu of salads, sandwiches, panini, and pastries, as well as coffee by the pound, premium organic juices, and hand-made chocolate bars. The setting is elegant and hip, and the seating is intimate---perfect for a business meeting or sitting down to chat with a friend.

Needless to say, I'll be back to The Granola Bar soon---most likely tomorrow morning.
