The Darien Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the dates for Darien’s Summer Sidewalk Sales. The popular tradition established to promote “shop local”, will take place July 13, 14 and 15, 2023, along the newly built Corbin Drive in the heart of the Corbin District and all along the Post Road from Darien Sport Shop to Browne & Co. Again, the Chamber is setting up a tent, tables, and chairs for teenagers to sell their homemade goods and products. The youth entrepreneurial tent is sponsored by and located next to Bankwell (in between Café Nero & Bankwell). “We encourage the kids to sell their homemade goods, interact with the community and experience selling and shopping locally, said Kesti Aysseh, Executive Director of the Darien Chamber. “Hopefully they will be able to pocket some summer spending cash and learn from the experience.” They will participate Saturday only, July 15, from 10-5pm.
Entertaining the kids, My Balloon Guy will be at First County Bank with his fun and animated balloon creations, Thursday and Friday, 12:30-2:30pm and Saturday, 11-1pm. The Darien Toy Box is hosting a face painter, Saturday, 11-2pm and back at the Chamber table, free ice cream tickets will be handed out and can be redeemed at Gofer’s Ice Cream. Famous podcast hosts, Liz Geiger and Taylor Carter from Now We’re Talking Darien will be interviewing ‘live on the street’. Stop by the Chamber table for a chance to be interviewed! Municipal parking lots are available for sidewalk sale parking for the 3 days in downtown Darien including the short-term parking lots: Mechanic Street, Center Street North & South, Tilley, Tokeneke Road, West Ave, Grove Street, and Squab Lane. Train station lots are open for daily parking between 9:30am and Midnight, but you must pay to park (payable via the pay stations at the $4.00 daily rate).
