Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Carolyn's Absolutely Fabulous Events!
Four questions with Carolyn Eddie, founder of Carolyn's Absolutely Fabulous Events
Why did you start your business?
I started my business, Carolyn's Absolutely Fabulous Events, a small catering company, in 2013.
What is your best-selling product/service?
Probably the most popular item I make is something I grew up calling Chocolate Caramel Squares but are now more commonly known as Millionaire Shortbread. I am also known for Proper Afternoon Teas, always featuring Chocolate Caramel Squares.
I shop locally at Darien Cheese and Fine Foods (the best store in town), Palmers, Stop and Shop, Wholefoods, TraderJoes, and Neilsens Florist.
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
Yes, after spending time in Copenhagen, I came back with lots of ideas for small bites or Smørrebrøl and the concept of grazing boards and tables.
