
Norwalk-based Connecticut Boat Club (CBC) rowers won a gold medal in the Women’s Youth Four event at the Head of the Charles regatta in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Sunday, October 22nd.
The Head of The Charles Regatta has more than 11,000 athletes from around the world competing in 55 different race events and is the largest three-day regatta in the world.
CBC rowers Callaghan Nickerson, Caroline Krantz, Annika Nelson, Sophie Bell (all of Darien), and Isabelle Khamish (of Westport), won a gold medal in the Head of the Charles Women’s Youth Four, out of 90 boats competing in the event. Krantz and Nelson also recently placed 9th in the world in the Women’s Pair event at the 2023 World Rowing Under 19 Championships, which were held in Paris, France on August 2-6, 2023.
Additionally, CBC rowers had a strong Head of the Charles showing in other events as well, placing 10th in the Women’s Youth Coxed Quad (Audrey Sears, Charlotte Maschoff, and Maddy Dodge, all of Darien; Miya Lee of Wilton; and Jillian Chlebowski of Fairfield); 21st in the Women’s Youth Four (Isobel McCoy of Rowayton; Sylvia Freidenrich of Ridgefield; Ava Weneck of South Salem, NY; Charlotte Mickelborough of Wilton; and Allison Murray of Darien); and 22nd in the Women’s Under 17 Four (Layla Sisca and Norah Surette, of Ridgefield; Reagan Weneck and Jiah Baak, of South Salem, NY; and Leighton Busby of New Canaan).
