Museum of Darien to Host Holiday Events

The Museum of Darien is hosting several events for the holiday season.

A Sip and Create Boxwood Tree Trimming Workshop is taking place on Tuesday, December 5th at 7pm, where participants decorate trees and sip champagne with new friends. Each ticket ($75) provides a boxwood tree, decorations and a glass of bubbly. Register for this event at museumofdarien.org.

The MoD Members Holiday Party is on Thursday, December 7 at 7pm. It is a free events for members, donors, volunteers and friends. A RSVP is requested by emailing ekoch@museumofdarien.org.

Silhouette Portraits can be booked from 11am-4pm on Friday, December 8th. A renowned silhouette artist will create individual portraits cut entirely freehand from paper, using scissors as her only tool. Subjects pose for silhouettes which are created in only a few minutes. Sitting fee is $30, and additional fees apply for multiple copies and framing onsite. Reserve a sitting at museumofdarien.org.

Visit with Santa in the Museum’s Homestead on Friday, December 8th from 3-5pm. Caretakers are free to take their own photos at no charge, but reservations should be made by emailing ekoch@museumofdarien.org. Donations benefit the Museum’s educational programs.

Additionally, a new exhibition, the Vintage Santa Collection will be on view from December 5th through January 31, 2024. This private collection includes over 300 Santas of all shapes and sizes from the 1950’s. Admission to the exhibit is $5, on view Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11am -4pm.
