Darien currently uses CodeRed for the town-wide Emergency Alert System. This has always been an OPT-IN alert system used to notify residents with critical information in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, unexpected road closures or other emergencies. Effective July 1, 2025, CodeRed will no longer be available. The Town of Darien is transitioning to a new opt-in Emergency Alert System, provided by Everbridge: Alerts 06820.
All residents are strongly encouraged to sign up for Alerts 06820 voluntarily to receive notifications about emergencies and other important community news. This is the only official emergency alert system in town and the only way to be individually notified of local emergencies. Registrants are able to specify how to receive time-sensitive messages, such as calls to their home, cell or business phones, an email, or text messages, as well as what type of emergency alerts they would like to receive.
Ways to Sign Up:

Individuals who do not have access to a computer or text devices, or those who would like assistance in registering their contact information, may complete the registration form above. Completed forms can be mailed or dropped off to the Emergency Management Department in Room 117, Darien Town Hall.
The success of this service relies on you. Having your latest contact information is the only way to ensure that you are contacted in an emergency. It is important to remember that this notification system is just one tool used to notify the public in the event of an emergency, and no one should rely on it exclusively for emergency information.
Please note: if you previously subscribed through CodeRed, you will need to re-register with Everbridge.
