YWCA Darien/Norwalk Announces 2025 Women of Distinction Honorees & Guest Speaker

Author and Longtime Darien Resident Alice Look to Speak at Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, June 6

Event Celebrates Local Leaders, Community Impact, and the Power of Connection

YWCA Darien/Norwalk is proud to announce the 2025 Women of Distinction and Young Women of Distinction honorees. These exceptional women will be recognized at this year’s luncheon, which will feature a special keynote address given by longtime Darien resident, veteran television executive and author Alice Look.

Now in its 16th year, the Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon celebrates women whose leadership, dedication, and contributions to the Darien and Norwalk communities reflect YWCA’s work to create a more unified, connected and empowered community. This year’s honorees include:

Our keynote speaker, Alice Look, has called Darien home for nearly 40 years, and first found her sense of belonging in the community through the YWCA’s Newcomers Club. A veteran television production executive, Look spent years at A&E managing an in-house team that developed original programming for History, Lifetime, and fyi. She is also the author of Remarkable Women: Reclaiming Their Stories, a compelling collection that shines a light on 23 unsung women throughout history whose contributions shaped the world we live in today.

Look’s work has been devoted to bringing overlooked female pioneers into the spotlight, women whose courage, intellect, and resilience paved the way for future generations. In many ways, the women we recognize each year at the Women of Distinction celebration carry that same spirit forward.

“Each year, we are inspired by the incredible impact so many women have on our community,” said Jennifer Buchholz, CEO of YWCA Darien/Norwalk. “Over the years, we’ve honored dozens of remarkable leaders who have uplifted others, shaped our communities, and created meaningful change. We are thrilled to recognize this year’s honorees and to welcome Alice, whose work bringing forgotten women in history to light underscores the powerful continuum between the trailblazers of the past and the changemakers of today - the ones right here in our own community.”
