Ben Larrabee, Darien's nationally recognized fine art photographer, unveiled his newest photograph for members of the Tree Conservancy of Darien's Board of Directors recently. The photograph, Larrabee's first in color and the first of his photographs he has donated, will be the only silent auction item at the conservancy's reception for the "Celebration of Trees" photography contest. The complimentary cocktail reception and photography exhibit will be held March 1st from 6 to 8 PM at Darien Nature Center.
Here are the details on the "Celebration of Trees" Photo Contest:
Photos of a Darien tree should be submitted to the Darien Nature Center on Friday, February 15th from 9-2 or Saturday, February 16th from 9-1. Photos should be 8X10 and can be black and white or color. Entry forms are available on the Tree Conservancy of Darien website.
The Tree Conservancy of Darien's photography contest is open to all ages. If you live or work in Darien, take a photo of a Darien tree, or submit a tree photo you've taken in the last two years. All accepted photos will be matted and displayed at the Darien Nature Center from March 1st to April 12, 2013. Photographs will be judged by a panel of tree and photography experts and prizes will be awarded in several categories. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2013 at the Darien Nature Center from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
