Darien Summer Fun with a Philanthropic Twist

Summer Fun with a Philanthropic Twist

Summer camps and activities are winding down, yet a few weeks of long, hot days still remain before the first day of school.  Looking for a fun activity for kids that doesn’t involve phones or “Fortnite”? The Community Fund of Darien has a few ideas for easy projects that empower children with responsibility and also benefit local kids in need.  Put a philanthropic twist on a classic summer activity and raise funds that will directly impact the many local children’s agencies supported by The Community Fund of Darien (TCF). All youth fundraisers will be invited to an ice cream social in September to celebrate their accomplishments!

  1. Beat the heat with a lemonade stand and teach children about helping others in our community.  Create an eye-catching sign - free artwork is available on the TCF website - and start pouring!

  2. Practice baking and decorating with a fun neighborhood bake sale.  Bonus benefit - doubling a recipe is a great way to reinforce math skills!

  3. Bored kids, hot temps & a dirty car?  Cool off and clean up with a car wash benefitting TCF!

  4. Recycle for a cause. Gather your empty bottles and cans, return them at a local grocery store, and collect the proceeds for TCF.

Put some structure into those unstructured summer days with a fun project that benefits local kids in need!  Drop by The Community Fund of Darien (30 Old Kings Highway South) in August with the proceeds from your fundraiser, have your photo taken for recognition as a “hometown hero” in TCF social media pages, and pick up your ice cream social invitation.
