The Darien Foundation Benefit ‘Yacht Rock Returns!’ Offering VIP Packages
First Benefit in Three Years will be held on Saturday, April 30 at The Tokeneke Club
DARIEN, CONNECTICUT – April 18, 2022 – The Darien Foundation is still offering a limited number of VIP tickets via sponsorships for its much-anticipated, nautically-themed event, Yacht Rock Returns! being held on Saturday, April 30, at 6:30 pm at The Tokeneke Club. Sponsorships can be purchased on the event site: https://darienfoundation.org/yrr2022
“We are thrilled at the response to ticket sales for our event and can’t wait to welcome community members as our annual benefit returns,” said Byrne Pozzi, Darien Foundation Benefit Chair and Board Member. “The purchase of a sponsorship provides VIP guests access to an exclusive space at the event.” General admission tickets sold out in less than two weeks.
The Darien Foundation wishes to thank event sponsors Bodega, The Corbin District and David and Julie Genovese, Compass - Lynne Somerville and the Hawes Team members, Darien Crossing, Darien Sport Shop, Eagle Point, First County Bank, Greenwich Radiological Partners, JP Morgan & Chase Private Bank, Monograms Off Madison, Montauk Distillery, NOLA Physical Therapy, Palmer’s, People’s United Bank, PURE Insurance, Rand Insurance, Ten Twenty Post and Two Roads Brewery.
“We are grateful to the sponsors who signed up to enthusiastically support The Foundation’s mission and look forward to seeing the ways their support makes an impact across the Darien community,” said Sarah Woodberry, Executive Director of The Darien Foundation. “The Darien Foundation has awarded more than $1.3MM in grants since our last fundraiser in 2019.”
The Darien Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has awarded $5.5 million in grants for technology and capital initiatives which create opportunity for Darien’s youth, support our town’s safety and security services, and enhance the overall quality of life in Darien. Recent grants have funded the launch of the K-12 Robotics initiative at the Darien Public Schools, a technology initiative at EMS-Post 53, as well as the accessible equipment for the new Darien Library Café.
Woodberry added, “this year, we are excited to honor our Board Chairman, Ward Glassmeyer, who is celebrating a remarkable 20 years volunteering with The Darien Foundation, including 14 years of service as the Board Chair.
Yacht Rock Returns! will feature a live performance by the high-energy, six-piece band “Three Sheets to the Wind,” America’s Number One Tribute to Yacht Rock. The Yacht Rock music genre, known for ‘70s and ‘80s hit songs, such as “Africa,” “Sailing” and “Escape” (the “Piña Colada song”) continues to be popular among all age groups. As guests dance and enjoy the smooth sounds of Three Sheets to the Wind, they will be treated to beachside cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a delicious gourmet buffet dinner prepared by Tokeneke Club Head Chef, Maurice Hurley.
The Tokeneke Club facilities and staff will be exclusively dedicated to The Darien Foundation on the evening of the Yacht Rock Returns! benefit. Thanks to the generous support from sponsors, the event will forego an auction or paddle raise. All proceeds from the benefit will be directed towards funding grants awarded by The Darien Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Event details are available at https://darienfoundation.org/yrr2022 along with event information and options for direct donations.
