Wall Street Theater Announces Connecticut's Got Talent Competition

Norwalk, CT – The Wall Street Theater, which recently opened its doors after undergoing an extensive renovation, has announced Connecticut’s Got Talent, a statewide contest seeking the area’s best comedians, singers, bands, dancers, magicians and specialty acts. The event will take place over four shows, including three weeks of auditions in front of a live audience where three local personalities, the live audience and online audience will judge the competition. On Friday, March 2, the live finale show will name the winner of Connecticut’s Got Talent.

The theater’s website is now accepting sign-ups for auditions. Each act may only audition one time, and performances will be limited to three minutes in length. The three live audition dates are Friday, January 26, Friday, February 2 and Friday, February 23.

Viewers at home can get involved, watching the auditions live at www.wallstreettheater.com, and casting votes for their favorite acts. The finale will also be streamed live, allowing the at-home audience to join in the excitement of crowing the state’s favorite act.

For tickets to join the live audience for the auditions or finale, call the theater’s box office at 877-987-6487 or visit www.wallstreettheater.com.  Tickets for all four events will be on sale beginning December 28.

About the Wall Street Theater

The Wall Street Theater (www.wallstreettheater.com) is a next-generation performance space in Connecticut showcasing professional music, comedic, dance and stage performances from nationally-recognized names as well as local organizations.  The 700-seat theater, located at 71 Wall Street in the downtown section of Norwalk, Connecticut, underwent a $10 million-dollar restoration to this historic landmark originally built in 1915. Originally known as The Regent Theatre, the venue boasted Vaudeville performances, the theater was also known as The Norwalk and The Roxy (during this time period, the theater was outfitted as a movie theater showing such blockbusters as “Jaws” and “Blues Brothers”). During its tenure as The Globe in the 90s, the stage featured many up-and-coming performers on tour such as The Beastie Boys, Lil’ Kim, Psychedelic Furs, Mighty Might Bosstones, Poison, and the Allman Brothers, until it shuttered in the late 90s. 71 Wall Street remained dark until it reopened as The Wall Street Theater in the summer of 2017.

Under the direction of president Suzanne Cahill, developer Frank Farricker, artistic director Billy Blanks, Jr., concert director Gene Morell and an advisory board, the theater is planning on offering a dynamic performance space while enriching arts education for families, mentoring programs for youth in theater, summer camp programming, and private rentals.
