Tweeting with the Enemy on May 17 at Darien Library

Four social media mavens will visit Darien Library for a panel discussion on how to have productive conversations in a hostile social media environment on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m. Attendees will gain an appreciation of and practical guidance for how to build relationships of mutual understanding and respect with those with very different world views than their own. The panel members are Mark Nowotarski, president of the Rotary Club of Darien, Melanie Szlucha, small business owner of Redinc, LLC, Carolina Bortelleto, Communications Manager for Connecticut Students for a Dream and Kerstin Rao teacher of the gifted program at Bedford Middle School in Westport.

Social media has an ever more powerful impact on our lives. Many people have felt overwhelmed and dismayed by the barrage of hostility they encounter in their social media environments. Panel members will share their personal and professional stories of how to constructively deal with hostility to build stronger relationships of mutual respect. This is a new world. None of us are experts. We are only looking to share experiences with our audience as we navigate this new environment together.

The event is co-sponsored with the Rotary Club of Darien. Refreshments will be provided.

The Darien Library is located at 1441 Post Rd. in Darien, Conn. For more information, phone (203) 655-1234, or visit darienlibrary.org.
