The Garden Club of Darien (GCD) presents The Myth of Persephone, the Birth of the Seasons flower show May 7 to May 9 at The Tokeneke Club (4 Butlers Island Road) in Darien.
The purpose of a flower show is threefold: to set standards of artistic and horticultural excellence; to broaden knowledge of horticulture, floral design, conservation, photography and other related areas; and to share the beauty of a show with fellow club members and with the public.
This year's show "The Myth of Persephone, the Birth of Seasons" highlights the fascinating Persephone story: The seasons are a gift of ever-changing light and beauty, a chance for rebirth, a rhythm by which we mark our lives and that of the flora and fauna around us.
