About The Talented Miss Farwell

A piercing character study of one unforgettable female con artist, Emily Gray Tedrowe’s The Talented Miss Farwell is a sophisticated literary thriller set in the world of high-priced art. The titular Miss Farwell is clever, ambitious, and underestimated by everyone around her, making for an electrifying page-turner of greed and obsession, survival and self-invention. And while con stories aren’t new, Tedrowe’s novel is a refreshing and subversive approach, focusing on a single mastermind who uses her brain, not her body, to swindle and succeed in her double life.

The Talented Miss Farwell is as ensnaring as real life cons that have recently captivated public consciousness. Tedrowe dials up the tension from a slow simmer to bubbling boil as readers race from chapter to chapter to discover the fate of Miss Farwell. Praised as an “elegant novelist” (Kirkus) and “a deeply perceptive observer…of social and moral concerns” (Booklist), Publishers Weekly calls Tedrowe an author that “shows great promise.”
