IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY
Two weekends only! December 11-20, 2020
I think we could all use a bit of holiday cheer this year, and there's no better treat for you and your family than seeing "It's a Wonderful Life" brought to life on the Music Theatre of Connecticut's Mainstage or streamed online as a live radio play.
About the Show:
Hailed as “magical” by The Boston Globe and “ fresh and inventive” by the Chicago Sun-Times, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play transposes the cinematic classic (and holiday television tradition) to the theater by staging the story as if it was a live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Five actors perform the voices of dozens of characters while creating foley sound effects. As in the movie, everyman George Bailey must learn that “no man is a failure who has friends” (and a little divine intervention) when he must face off against local robber baron (and all-around curmudgeon) Henry F. Potter. It’s “a surefire reminder of what this season is all about” (Edge Magazine).
Covid-19 Safety Measures:
Like many people, I have done very few in-person activities this year, especially avoiding indoor experiences, however, MTC has taken the utmost care in providing a safe experience to its guests (myself included).
I felt perfectly safe with the Covid-19 safety measures that MTC has instituted. Those measures include:
- Socially Distanced Seating
-
All guests are required to wear masks until further notice. Masks will not be supplied at the theatre. Masks must remain on the entire time.
-
All guests will have their temperature checked before entering the theatre with a no-touch thermometer. If a guest has a temperature of over 100.4 degrees or higher, they will be asked to return home and will be given a free exchange to a later performance or a full refund.
-
All programs will be digital, rather than printed, to minimize transference.
There will be ample hand sanitizer available at strategic places in the lobby, in the theatre, and in the restrooms.
All shows performed at the Mainstage until further notice will be performed without intermissions to minimize lines to restrooms.
For the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff, the concession stand will remain closed.
-
The entire theatre, including seats, armrests, countertops, and other high-touch surfaces, will be sanitized after each performance.
-
We have made major upgrades to our air ventilation system. We are now using MERV-13 filters that will be replaced monthly (normally we would be changing MERV-8 filters quarterly). During performances, the ratio of fresh outside air to recirculated air will go from 20:80 to 50:50.
