Annual Darien Community Association Plant Sale to be held Friday, May 7

A mainstay on the gardener’s calendar, the much-loved and highly anticipated annual DCA Plant Sale will be an in-person, outside event this year. An array of wonderful plant offerings will be displayed in the formal gardens at the DCA on Friday, May 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Social distancing and masks will be required.

Organized and managed by the DCA Greenhouse Group, this energetic group of women is passionate about plants and enjoys the continual learning that is part of gardening — there’s always another plant, another seed, or another weather pattern that makes gardening a rewarding yet challenging activity. Throughout the year, they propagate plants from seeds, cuttings and plugs (small plants), all for this annual plant sale.

There will be over 2,000 affordable hardy perennials and annuals that have been grown and nurtured in both the historic DCA greenhouse and members’ gardens. Plants for a variety of settings will be available including: sun-loving, shade-loving, native and deer-resistant. Of note this year are over a dozen varieties of native plants and a selection of
pre-planted outdoor containers and terrariums.

Not sure what plants to grow in your garden? Members of the DCA Greenhouse Group will be available to advise plant choices. There is no fee for entry. Proceeds from the sale help support the DCA’s nonprofit mission.

For further information view dariendca.org or contact the DCA at 203-655-9050 extension 10. The event will be held at the DCA, at 274 Middlesex Road in Darien, CT.
