Barrett Bookstore Welcomes Anna Sale in conversation with Kelly Corrigan on May 13

Barrett Bookstore is thrilled to welcome author and beloved WYNC podcast creator and host Anna Sale in virtual conversation with author, television (Tell Me More with Kelly Corrigan) + podcast (Kelly Corrigan Wonders) host Kelly Corrigan. The virtual conversation will take place on Thursday, May 13, 7PM.

Anna and Kelly will be in conversation about, among other things, their new books: Let’s Talk About Hard Things (Sale) and Hello World! (Corrigan).

This virtual conversation between Anna Sale and Kelly Corrigan will celebrate the release of their new books, and will focus on all the tough topics and transitions that we all encounter throughout life. Both Sale and Corrigan are committed to having honest conversations as a way of connecting humans to one another; especially during this time when we have all been so disconnected physically, it’s ever more important that we dive in deeply and connect with each other about the things that matter most in life.

Taking a cue from Sale’s podcast Death, Sex, & Money (the New York Times calls Sale “a therapist at happy hour”) the authors will have direct and thought-provoking conversations about the topics in Sale’s new book, highlighting the importance of connecting especially during these uncertain times. Death, sex, money, family and identity are all topics that may be covered. The authors will also celebrate the release of Corrigan’s new picture book Hello World! which celebrates independence and freedom for young children.

About Let’s Talk About Hard Things

In Let’s Talk About Hard Things, Sale uses the best of what she’s learned from her podcast to reveal that when we have the courage to talk about hard things, we learn about ourselves, others, and the world that we make together. Diving into five of the most fraught conversation topics—death, sex, money, family, and identity—she moves between memoir, fascinating snapshots of a variety of Americans opening up about their lives, and expert opinions to show why having tough conversations is important and how to do them in a thoughtful and generous way. She uncovers that listening may be the most important part of a tough conversation, that the end goal should be understanding without the pressure of reconciliation, and that there are some things that words can’t fix (and why that’s actually okay).

Touching, personal, and inspiring, Let's Talk About Hard Things is a profound meditation on why communication can connect us instead of divide us and how we can all do it better.
