Darien Library Invites You To Explore Olana, Home of 19th Century Artist Frederic Church

Darien Library is excited to offer the chance to tour a local mansion from home.

Olana, located in Hudson, NY, is one of the most widely recognized artist’s homes and studios in the world. This virtual tour will introduce attendees to 19th century artist Frederic Church, his ornately decorated architectural design, and the sprawling 250 acres surrounding the Main House. About The Presenter

Carolyn Keogh is the Director of Education & Public Programs at The Olana Partnership. The Olana Partnership, a private not-for-profit education corporation, works cooperatively with New York State to support the restoration, conservation, and interpretation of Olana. The Olana Partnership operates Olana State Historic Site in a cooperative agreement with New York State Parks.

Carolyn manages and develops programs for school, youth, adult and creative aging audiences at the Olana State Historic Site. Carolyn is passionate about making museums and cultural spaces welcoming, accessible places for diverse learners of all ages. In her prior role, she oversaw gallery and studio programs for youth, teens, and educators at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Her research on the connections between empathy-building and art museum education was published in 2019 in Theory and Practice: The Emerging Museum Professionals Journal. Carolyn received her MA in Art History with a focus on Art Museum Education at City College and graduated with honors from New York University with a BA degree in Art History.
