Join Darien Library for a Book Group Under the Night Sky on October 28

What’s better than a night under a starry sky, by a warm fire, with great food and a good book?

Darien Library, Barrett Bookstore, Darien Land Trust, and Darien Nature Center are excited to host a unique book group for Under a White Sky by Elizabeth Kolbert. Join Kiera Parrott, Director of Darien Library, at the Darien Nature Center for an enlightening discussion.

Elizabeth Kolbert’s highly anticipated new book, Under a White Sky, is a powerful and resonant exploration of human innovation. Kolbert travels the globe to explore cutting-edge projects spearheaded by maverick scientists and researchers. Her research leads her from a plant in Iceland where carbon dioxide is being turned into stone to the halls of Harvard, where researchers are contemplating shooting tiny diamond particles into the stratosphere to lower the temperature of the earth (potentially leading to white skies where we currently see blue—hence the book’s title).

This program will take place at the Darien Nature Center on Thursday, October 28 at 7 p.m. Register on Darien Library’s website at www.darienlibrary.org/event/5322.

Light refreshments will be served. Participants can pick up a copy of Under a White Sky to borrow at the library on the hold shelf at the Welcome Desk under the name “Registered Book Group: Under a White Sky” or purchase their own copy from Barrett Bookstore.
