Learn About the Life and Music of Johannes Brahms with Darien Library on March 30!

Darien Library is pleased to present an evening exploring the life and music of composer Johannes Brahms.

Perhaps no composer in the western canon more directly embraced the legacy of Beethoven than did Johannes Brahms. Called the “Keeper of the Classical Flame” and the “Heir to Beethoven,” this ambitious composer grew up in Hamburg and first worked as a teenage pianist in the brothels of the city's infamous red light district. In the first lecture on Brahms, Professor Gil Harel will consider his background and early works, as well as the meeting that would change the composer’s life.

This event will take place in the Darien Library Community Room on Wednesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. Register on Darien Library’s website at www.darienlibrary.org/event/5562.
