There may be piles of snow outside, but don't fret - spring has arrived (at least astronomically). Today, Monday, March 20 marks the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, also known as the vernal equinox.
"All over the world, days and nights are approximately equal. The name equinox comes from Latin words which mean “equal night”—aequus (equal) and nox (night)," says Almanac.com.
Enjoy the increased sunlight hours, earlier dawns and later sunsets!
Happy spring!
