The annual SoNo Arts Festival returns to historic South Norwalk on Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine. Admission to the Arts Festival is free.
This juried event will feature more than 125 artisans, children’s activities, performing artists, musical performances and a puppet parade. On Saturday and Sunday, artist booths will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. featuring one-of-a-kind ceramics, wearable art and a wide variety of other fine arts and crafts. Exhibitors will share their unique talents and creativity in painting, wood, wearable and decorative fiber, metalwork, leather, paper arts, glass, ceramics, jewelry, photography and more. Exhibitors will not only showcase their work, but will also educate attendees about their creative process with demonstrations and text. All exhibited works will be available for purchase.
The Children’s Art Playground opens at 10:00 a.m. each day with a variety of hands on crafts and activities – including musical performances – for children of all ages.
On Saturday, performances by local and regional bands begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue after the artist booths close with shows at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday features a variety of musical performances from 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
On both days, an expanded food and beverage court will be complemented by local restaurants, food trucks and merchants offering weekend specials.
According to Arts Festival organizer Sue Brown Gordon, the streets of historic South Norwalk will come alive with the sounds of music, laughter, conversation and the presence of art. “The SoNo Arts Festival, returning with a fresh style and renewed energy, will offer something for everyone – from children to seniors. We anticipate a record turnout as people from New England and the NY Metro Area come to interact directly with and purchase items from the highly-skilled artists and craftspeople from all over the country.”
The SoNo Arts Festival at Washington and Main Streets is a short walk or taxi ride from the Metro-North Railroad South Norwalk Station and is easily reached from Connecticut Exit 15 on I-95.
