Les Arbres Tree Service & Fine Gardening Recipients of the 2018 Home Building Industry Award

Les Arbres Tree Service & Fine Gardening is honored to be the recipients of the 2018 Home Building Industry (“HOBI”) Award for Best Amenity: Gardens and Legacy Trees, awarded by the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Connecticut (HBRA). Les Arbres was awarded for its work on the property located on Brush Island in Darien CT.

The firm was brought in to the project by Paul Harris and Sitta Harris of Cole Harris Associates, who received HOBI awards for the Brush Island project in the categories of Best Spec Home over $7 Million and Best Spec Home Kitchen.

Les Arbres was originally brought in to provide recommendations for the protection of several large 100+ year-old beech trees during planned construction. Les Arbres provided needed cabling, pruning, and other steps to protect the remarkable old-growth trees.

In Spring, after the houses were framed, Les Arbres was asked back to create a landscaping plan. Envisioning a park-like feel for the property, Les Arbres was given substantial creative freedom to design a landscape that centered on the two original beech trees. Beneath the trees, a diverse selection of colorful perennial flowers was planted, taking care not to interfere with the trees’ root systems.

The thoughtfully designed garden is comprised of over 4,500 perennials which create a constantly evolving display of color lasting throughout all three growing seasons. Unique trees ranging from 12 to 20 feet were sourced from other parts of Connecticut and planted along with hundreds of shrubs that fill out the landscaping around the residences.

Les Arbres has combined their extensive experience as arborists and fine gardeners to create a one-of-a-kind environment that will provide these luxury residences with beautiful landscaping year-round.
