Darien Arts Center announces Workshops and Virtual Showcase

NEW VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOPS

Darien Arts Center, in Partnership with The Darien Land Trust and The Darien Nature Center Present:

Plein Air Drawing and Painting

Saturday, July 25th, 9:30 AM -11:30 AM | $95

RAIN DATE: Sunday, July 26th, 9:30 AM-11:30 AM

Location: Cherry Lawn Park, near the Gazebo. Parking available in the Nature Center Parking Lot.

Join artist and DAC instructor Nancy McTague-Stock for a plein air painting and drawing class at the beautiful Cherry Lawn Park. The tradition of painting outside has a rich history, famed in Connecticut by the Cos Cob and Lyme painting colonies from the 1890s. Come join us and continue the tradition! Nancy will bring her favorite portable mediums: graphite pencil, colored pencil, and watercolor for demonstration. The DAC will provide graphite pencil, watercolor, brush, and paper. Feel free to bring any additional art supplies. Also, please bring a small folding chair, sunscreen, and a bottle of water. If you have questions, please email Emily Altman at emily@darienarts.org.

Drawing with Nancy McTague-Stock

Pen and Ink with Landscape Drawing

Wednesday, July 8th, 3 Pm - 4 PM | $15

Like the many beautiful and historic landscape drawings you see in the museums, learn how to create one for yourself. Using a favorite subject matter as a reference, please choose something that offers you textural diversity...for example... sand, grasses, rocks, trees or trees, bushes, barns, flowers, or any combination of interesting things found in the landscape. A zoom link will be sent before the class.

Capturing Water in Quick Sketches

Wednesday, July 22nd, 3 PM - 4 PM | $15

Our drawing series with Nancy McTague-Stock continues! Have you ever steered clear of drawing water because you were nervous? Have no fear! It can be easy once you are shown the basic steps to success. Bring your favorite photograph of water to work from. Choose one that has multiple shades of gray or a high contrast color photograph. A zoom link will be sent before the class.
