Be a part of Darien history! In conjunction with the Darien 2020 Bicentennial celebration, Darien is creating a Time Capsule to commemorate this year. Members of the community will be invited to share a short, written reflection of the year 2020 to be included in the time capsule. The capsule will be opened in 50 years in 2070.

The Time Capsule Subcommittee asks that the public think broadly of events that have significance within Darien and not only in the wider world. Information about the big events today will be well-documented for future historians in newspapers. However, the insights of what it was really like to live in Darien in 2020 won’t be as readily available.
Visit http://bit.ly/darientimecapsule to write your reflection by December 31, 2020. If you prefer a paper submission, please mail or bring to Darien Library (attn: Caroline Lopez, 1441 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820). All written submissions must be 200 words or less and fit on an 8.5 x 11-inch sheet of paper to be included.
The Committee encourages submissions that are original and related to the topic. It reserves the right to remove submissions that are in conflict with its standards. Submissions that are offensive or those that promote a service or product will not be included. Entries may be read by members of the Darien 2020 Bicentennial Time Capsule Subcommittee in the process of putting the printed book together.
The Time Capsule Ceremony and the other exciting Darien 2020 Bicentennial festivities will be rescheduled to next year. We look forward to celebrating 2020 ... one more time in 2021!
