Stevenson said that there were 469 total cases reported for Darien from 346 households and family transmission and small gatherings continue to be the main drivers of community spread.

"The State’s positivity rate stands at 7.1%. Darien’s 14-day rolling case average is 32.2 cases per 100,000. Thankfully, there have been no additional hospitalizations since my last report. There are 18 active cases in our school community resulting in 165 quarantines," said Stevenson.

There were 170 cases reported for the month of November exceeding the 111 cases reported at the height of the initial outbreak in March. Increased testing is a very helpful tool in identifying more cases in our community.

Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control modified quarantine requirements for people potentially exposed to the virus. Official guidance from the CT Department of Public Health is pending. Modest reductions in quarantine time to 10 days if no symptoms develop or 7 days if you test negative will benefit to both students and businesses. We will advise when the guidance goes into effect here in Connecticut.

Governor Lamont announced today that vaccine distribution will be completed in phases. Phase 1A is expected to begin in mid-December and will include vaccines for healthcare workers, nursing home residents and medical first responders. Phase 1B will be in mid-January for critical workforce workers, older adults and high risk individuals under the age of 65. Phase 2 for the reminder of the Connecticut population is planned for June of 2021. These dates are subject to change depending on deliveries from vaccine providers.

As a reminder, you can find testing sites throughout Connecticut at 211ct.org. Drive thru testing continues to be available here in Darien through Everpointhealth.com.

Thank you all for doing your part to keep your families and our community safe this holiday season.
