A Darien Library Card is Your Window to New Worlds

There’s nothing more empowering than a library card. It provides access to books, technology, education, and media resources. It also provides entry to fun and enriching activities for people of all ages.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and Darien Library invites all residents and individuals who work in town to register for a library card. In celebration of the national program, all patrons who register for a library card in September will be entered into a raffle for a prize: a bag of personalized books chosen specifically for the winner.

While library cards are most often associated with borrowing materials like books, movies, magazines, and newspapers, there are some unexpected benefits as well, including the ability to borrow museum passes to locations in Connecticut and New York, including the New York Botanical Gardens and Museum of Natural History; download exclusive digital content to their devices; book study rooms at Darien Library; use public computers at Darien Library; and more. Darien Library cardholders can also access an array of digital materials on Libby, hoopla Digital, LinkedIn Learning, and ComicsPlus.

To register for a Darien Library card, a person needs to be a resident of Darien, work full-time in the town or become a Friend of the Library through a donation of $300 dollars or more. In addition, cardholders from any library in the state may cross-register their card in Darien for library privileges. At the time of registration, Darien residents should bring proof of address and full-time employees should bring a paystub or proof of employment. Registration may be done online at www.darienlibrary.org or in person at the Library.
