Darien Residents Among 38 to Graduate new Canaan Country School

At New Canaan Country School’s Closing Exercises Wednesday, June 12, Head of School Aaron Cooper encouraged the 38 ninth grade graduates of the Class of 2019 to be brave.

“Fortune truly does favor the brave and the courageous and the bold,” said Mr. Cooper. “Go now from here and, in the words of our mission, make a positive contribution to the world.  It will not be easy and you will have moments of doubt, but I hope you will face those challenges head on, make the courageous choice, and stand up for your beliefs.”

Ninth Grader Cody Comyns of New Canaan delivered the Class Salutation in which he recalled his eagerness to get to school every day, starting in Beginners (Pre-K). “My mother would have to lock the car doors on the way to school to prevent me from running to my homeroom, while the car was still moving,” he said. “This energy and enthusiasm was apparent in almost all of my peers at the time and still is apparent today.”

Dylan Seth of New Canaan presented the Class Reflection. “As we all head out to start our own journeys and begin to start our life outside of the circle, always remember how much stronger we all are when we come together in kindness, acceptance, and believing in the power of each other's differences and uniqueness,” she said.

Class of 2019 graduate Ellie Walker of Darien received the Gamble Award, which is presented to the student who exemplifies, to the highest measure, the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
