Any place in town where you go for inspiration and creativity?
As a creative, I need quiet to balance out all the thoughts in my head, so when I’m feeling like I need to refill my well, I head to Selleck Woods. The trees are so tall and dense that they block out any noise and you really feel like you’re far away from civilization. There are many different paths, with creeks and lakes/ponds and cute bridges. There’s always wildlife and wildflowers and benches where you can sit. Maybe it’s because I was raised on a farm, but the woods ground and center me in a way that nothing else can. Mother Nature sets quite an example for inspiration and creativity if you take time to recognize it.
Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?
Make Modern! From the minute you walk into that place, you are engulfed in creativity. It’s bright, colorful, it smells good, and there’s either the quiet buzzing of sewing machines or the clack of knitting needles or there’s the chatter of kids excited about their projects. Not only do you make things there, but you can purchase cute, creative items from all over the world. The selection of colors, patterns, and material surrounding you awaken the dormant creativity of childhood. And look at Erika Allen, the owner; that lady is the epitome of creativity and feeling good.
Finish this sentence: When I think of creativity in town, I think of:
...the Halloween window painting contest, the painted wall murals at the prior Kirby Girl and the new Green & Tonic, Caffe Nero (because all creatives need a cozy coffee shop with couches and tables), and Selleck Woods where they have I Spy Corner for kids (and adults) to spot wooden silhouettes of wildlife, and people leave message rocks and plastic gnomes behind little wooden doors.
