This evening, Thursday, March 18, Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson provided the community with an important COVID-19 update reporting that there have been 50 new cases and 1 hospitalization during the two-week period since March 5th. There are 1271 total cases from 812 unique households.
In addition, Stevenson said that Darien Public Schools report 15 active cases resulting in 182 quarantines.

Vaccine Eligibility for residents 45+
There are lots of positive and hopeful changes beginning tomorrow, March 19th. Regarding vaccine, anyone 45+ may register beginning tomorrow. The Governor anticipates accelerating the expansion of vaccine eligibility to anyone 16+ on April 5th based on the anticipation that CT will begin receiving up to 200,000 doses per week beginning in early April.
Travel and Capacity Limites Lifted
Also, beginning tomorrow, travel quarantines and capacity limits are eliminated for most businesses, including restaurants, gyms, personal services and houses of worship. All high school sports can practice and compete in tournaments. Social gatherings at private homes of up to 25 inside and 100 outside and at commercial venues of 100 people indoors and 200 people outdoors will be allowed. Some safety rules will stay in effect and mask-wearing and distancing are still required. More rollbacks are anticipated on 4/2.
Darien Vaccine Clinics
Darien Vaccine Clinics are now open to those who are eligible by enrolling through the State's online Vaccine Enrollment at https://dphsubmissions.ct.gov/OnlineVaccine or by calling 1-877-918-2224. Please be patient when seeking a vaccine appointment as vaccine supply is still limited.
Homebound residents can access vaccine by calling the Darien Health & Human Service Department at (203)656-7328.
The CDC has issued guidance for individuals who are fully vaccinated and beyond the 14-day post-vaccine period. The guidance is posted on the town website under COVID-19 Resources.
Fully vaccinated people can:
- Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or distancing
- Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or distancing
- Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic
