Caitlin Chan of Darien Named a Dana Scholar at Bates College

Caitlin Chan of Darien was one of 20 members of the Bates College class of 2024 to be named a Dana Scholar. Chan, the daughter of Paul Chan and Jessica Yep-Chan, is a 2020 graduate of Darien High School.

Established in 1965 through the support of the Charles A. Dana Foundation, the Dana Scholars Program recognizes exemplary academic excellence and promise, leadership potential, and community service. The program grants awards to twenty students from each first-year class.

"Being named Dana Scholar is the highest honor that a Bates first-year student can achieve," said Malcolm Hill, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty. "We recognize in these students a commitment to academic excellence, informed civic action, and leadership. The Dana Scholarship celebrates promise, and is remarkably predictive of future success."

Located in Lewiston, Maine, Bates is internationally recognized as a leading liberal arts college, attracting 2,000 students from across the U.S. and around the world.
