High school seniors, college or graduate students who work (or have a family member, i.e., parent, stepparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, grandparent, spouse, legal guardian) who work at a local Darien business and are a Darien Chamber of Commerce member are eligible to apply for either of the two merit-based scholarships. Due April 15, 2023!

The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation offers the General Education Scholarship and The Penny Glassmeyer STEM Scholarship where applicants must plan to major in STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Math education). The Penny Glassmeyer STEM College Scholarship, is in honor of long-time Chamber supporter and Darien resident, Penny Glassmeyer. This award exemplifies Penny’s commitment, tenacity, and vision for the future of Darien and our community.

The scholarship recipient will be awarded $2,000. The check will be written to the University the recipient is attending. This is a one-time scholarship award, and the check will need to be written before December 30th, 2023.

In addition, there are a number of scholarships awarded to DHS Seniors each year by participating Darien community organizations, including The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation.

These scholarships are primarily based on need, although factors such as grades, character, service, and other considerations do have weight. There are some merit-based scholarships and financial need is not a consideration. The DCCF contributes 4 scholarships to this pool of awards.

The DHS award applications are due March 26, 2023.
