Darien Welcomes Fjord Fish Market

Fjord Fish Market, a locally owned business by Jim Thistle, has recently opened here in Darien. This award-winning specialty seafood store and caterer can be found at
1015 Post Road.

THE FJORD MISSION.....

Specializing in responsibly-sourced seafood, Fjord brings a unique mission and philosophy to the local seafood marketplace with its emphasis on traceability, transparency, and strict standards for aquaculture.

Fjord puts great effort into knowing where all their wild seafood comes from and then properly labeling the seafood in the case so that customers know exactly what they are buying and eating. When sourcing farm-raised products, Fjord partners with CleanFish, a respected company known for their commitment to seafood raised in similar conditions as in the wild and free from antibiotics.

As part of their philosophy of "setting the standard for better seafood," Fjord only sells wild-caught shrimp-not only due to its superior flavor, but also because current farm-raised practices don't meet Fjord's strict standards for a high-quality, healthy product.  Another distinction is that all of Fjord's fish is bought whole, with each piece hand filleted in the Cos Cob location.

In addition to fresh fish, the Darien location offers sushi rolled daily in-store, hot soups and dips, and a takeout menu that includes sandwiches and their popular lobster dinner- to- go. There are also seafood party platters available by pre-order and a full catering division that handles events all year long.
