Why did you start your business?
I am a board-certified plastic surgeon, and I perform the entire spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, including facial rejuvenation, facial reconstruction after cancer or trauma, breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast reconstruction, abdominoplasty, liposuction, body contouring, and complex reconstruction including microsurgical free flap surgery. I am also fellowship-trained in hand and wrist surgery, microsurgery, and peripheral nerve surgery. I started my surgical practice in Darien to bring the most advanced cosmetic and reconstructive techniques from Harvard, Yale, and UNC to Fairfield County. I am committed to making patients whole again by restoring them to their peak form and function.
What is your best selling product/service?
My patients love me, especially after abdominoplasty, liposuction, and breast reduction. I perform safe, efficient surgery in the comfort and privacy of the fully licensed and certified operating room at The Aesthetic Center (722 Post Road, Darien). I am also a master of the wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) technique for hand and wrist surgery, which maintains patient comfort and hastens recovery without general anesthesia. I use this technique often for carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, ganglion cyst excision, and tendon repair with excellent surgical results and high patient satisfaction.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services), and can you name them?
Dr. Yuen-Jong Liu is a plastic surgeon and hand surgeon based in Darien, CT, and serves all of Fairfield County in Western Connecticut. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He completed a hand and microsurgery fellowship at Yale University, a plastic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and general surgery residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Liu graduated with an M.D. from Yale Medical School and a B.A. summa cum laude from Harvard University in computer science and biochemical sciences.
Dr. Liu was selected for 2019 Best of Darien Award in the Hand Surgeon category by the Darien Award Program.
He has published his research in the top plastic surgery journals, such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Annals of Plastic Surgery. He authored multiple chapters in Operative Techniques in Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Operative Techniques in Plastic Surgery.
