A month after Cushman & Wakefield announced the sale of Darien Playhouse for $11.3 million, it was reported today by Westfair Business Publications that the Playhouse is facing closure after developer Jon Vaccaro, who purchased the Boston Post Road property, considers redeveloping the site as a retail and apartment complex.
According to the article, Vaccaro has filed plans with the town’s Planning & Zoning Commission and Architectural Review Board for the property to be repurposed as retail space on the first floor and four apartments on the second floor.
The Playhouse’s marquee would remain in place, the article states.
The Darien Playhouse continues to show movies and their Facebook page remains active, announcing movies and showtimes.
