Make-Modern Crafting Studio opens in Darien!

Darien Board of Selectman, Darien Chamber representatives  and Erika Allen-Founder celebrate
the "cutting of the ribbon" and the opening of Make-Modern

MAKE-MODERN is a crafting studio offering weekly classes, one-time workshops, camps, MNOs & beautiful birthday parties. We have offerings for kids, teens and adults. We instruct in many mediums: sewing, knitting, crochet, machine, needlework, weaving, brush-lettering, felting and more.

Our main studio at 1985 Post Road can accommodate up to 30 students at a time (though our regular classes are much smaller). We also own a remodeled vintage Airstream (see photo below) that can accommodate 12 students at a time anywhere the client chooses!

MAKE-MODERN believes that learners should always work with the finest materials and on high design projects. In that manner, even a beginner creates a work of true beauty. We source our materials from all over the world: paper from Japan, wool from Scotland, dyes from Morocco, findings from India.

In addition to instruction, MAKE-MODERN offers a curated collection of original art and handmade retail. We also rent our studio for dinners and other events.

Front Row- David Wagner, Sarah Neumann-Selectman, Nicole Burkhart-Creative Director, Erika Allen-Founder, Gwen Mitrano-Studio Manager, Christa McNamara-Selectman, Susan Cator, Maria Hernandez. Back Row: Kris Barker, Bill Jensen, Burhan Mohammad, Libby Stowell & Malcolm Hall.
