Darien Historical Society's Favorite Things Virtual Tour Becomes New Series!

The Darien Historical Society is offering virtual tours in a new series called “Our Favorite Things” which focuses on treasures at the Museum.

The tours are part of a Bring History Home project, a set of initiatives sparked by the current COVID-19 crisis to collect and share stories virtually, from yesterday and today.

“We received such a positive response from our first episode, so we decided to make the virtual tours a series,” said Executive Director Maggie McIntire.

The second Favorite Things episode focuses on two of the Society’s most treasured artifacts – the Scofield Inn tavern sign dated from the late 1700s, and two early 19th century samplers.

“All of these local artifacts are like little educational windows to Darien’s past,” said McIntire. “For example, there’s a clue on the Inn sign that demonstrates this community’s unique experience during the Revolutionary War.”
