Darien Arts Center Announces Spring Plein Air Workshops

The Darien Arts Center is pleased to announce the addition of three new Plein Air Workshops for adults this spring taking place at inspiring settings in Norwalk, Darien and Wilton. Noted artist Nancy McTague-Stock will guide students through the transition from studio to plein air to create the scene in front of them using a medium they prefer.

The first Plein Air Workshop takes place on April 29 at the Shorehaven Club in Norwalk, where students will capture the light in the Long Island Sound’s marshland. The second workshop is on May 6 at Cherry Lawn Park in Darien, where students can enjoy a beautiful gazebo, cherry blossom trees and a tranquil pond setting. The final workshop takes place on May 13 at Schenk’s Island in Wilton, a classic Connecticut setting with a meandering river with steppingstones, arching trees and a lovely bridge.

Students should bring their medium of choice, a chair, and a board to place in their laps for drawing. Pencils, colored pencils, pen and ink, watercolors and pastels are welcomed. There will also be some drawing materials onsite as well for students to use. Participants may sign up for one, two or all three workshops, which are $50 each and take place on Thursdays from 10am-noon.

To register for workshops, visit darienarts.org or call (203) 655-8683. The DAC is located at 2 Renshaw Road, behind the Town Hall.
