Darien Library to Resume Normal Hours and Additional Services on May 17

Darien Library has announced that they will resume normal hours including weekend evening hours starting on Monday, May 17. These operating hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Children’s Library closes at 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  

The Library will also reinstate a number of other services on May 17. These include no time limits for using the Library, unlimited holds, 24/7 returns at the outdoor drop, no appointments needed to visit the Children’s Library, 60-minute computer access, the resumption of notary services, the return of limited seating throughout the building, and outdoor events beginning in June along with continued virtual events. Holds will continued to be picked up from the Community Room. Late fines will resume on June 1. 

The safety of patrons and staff is an important priority with extended hours and increased services. The Library will continue to require masking inside the building, offer limited seating, have Plexiglas at staffed service desks, along with enhanced cleaning procedures. Private study rooms are unavailable at this time. Food and drinks will be allowed outside of the building.
