Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Sasco River Center!

Four questions with Mark Maidique from Sasco River Center.

Why did you start your business?

We started Sasco River Center to meet the needs of families and children experiencing emotional, behavioral, sensory and learning challenges. Our goal has been to provide one team of experts that are able to provide comprehensive support through our collaborative model.

We strive to find the right solution for the presenting issues, connecting the client to the right team of supports who can efficiently but comprehensively address the client's needs.

What is your best-selling product/service?

The service that is most sought at our Center is psychotherapy for children and adolescents. That said we have several other highly successful service lines including sensory integration therapy, comprehensive diagnostic testing, learning support, and psychiatric consultations.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We maintain a collaborative relationship with many local independent providers and non-profit organizations. We have a close working relationship with all of the schools (both public and private) in our area. We also work closely with the pediatrics practices and other learning support practices in the area. Finally, we are a consistent supporter of various non-profits such as the Community Fund, the Depot Teen Center, and the Darien Library.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We had started many years ago as two separate clinical practices. The Southfield Center provided psychotherapy, testing, and learning support to kids and teens. Sensory Kids provided occupational and sensory integration support to children and families.

In January 2020, we brought these two businesses together, forming the Sasco River Center. We now have a team of over 40 clinicians providing comprehensive clinical support at our three locations in Darien, Stamford, and Wilton.

Sasco River Center has three locations in Connecticut - 330 Post Road East in Darien, 78 Harvard Avenue in Stamford, and 396 Danbury Road in Wilton! Visit Sasco River Center online here, and make sure to check out their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages as well!
