The Darien Arts Center has announced the addition of professional dancers Brianna Gill and Claire Mazza as part of an expansion to their dance program, which will take place in the newly renovated DAC Weatherstone Studio this fall. Gill and Mazza join the popular DAC dance program which offers ages 3 through adults, the opportunity to train in one of the finest dance spaces in Fairfield County and to participate in multiple performances throughout the year.
Brianna Gill, who has been a substitute teacher and a summer instructor at the DAC, now joins the faculty as the dance program expands to include more hip hop classes. Gill, an experienced dancer and instructor, is also a performer, choreographer and producer as part of professional dance company, Team Leggoo in Fairfield. “I’m very eager for the coming year and excited to see what it brings!”, commented Gill.
Gill’s fall classes include Hip Hop for grades 1-2 from 4-4:45pm and for grades 3-5 from 5-5:45pm that take place on Tuesdays, and High School Hip Hop from 4-5pm and Middle School Hip Hop from 5:15-6:15pm on Thursdays.
A native New Yorker, Claire Mazza began her dance training at the School of American Ballet. While immersing herself in the Balanchine style, she studied privately with Francois Perron, focusing on the classical French technique, and attended Studio Maestro (currently Manhattan Youth Ballet). Upon graduating and after performing with the Manhattan Youth Ballet Studio Company, Claire launched her professional career dancing with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens de Montreal, Brooklyn Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Richmond Ballet, Morales Dance, Staten Island Ballet, St. Peter’s Dance Company, Dances Patrelle and Cello Pointe. She was also a soloist with Connecticut Ballet for many years.
It is strongly suggested not to wait to register as classes fill quickly. Classes for ages 3 & up include Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Broadway Dance, Lyrical Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Pointe and new this year, Boys Ballet.
