Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT good2grow!

Four questions with Heather Curran, founder of good2grow.

Why did you start your business?

We started good2grow 5 years ago when we realized that there was a need for landscaping services that were geared towards the middle market. Many homeowners just want a quick refresh of their existing beds, or want to install a new garden but don't know where to begin the process.

What is your best-selling product/service?

We create hundreds of container plantings every year. They are relatively affordable and people are happy to have something pretty and easy to care for on a small scale.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Good2grow buys inventory from many small businesses throughout CT and NY. We search for the best quality plants and materials for the best prices which involve quite of bit of shopping.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I don't think we have ever completely reimagined our business model - we have stayed consistent with our initial vision and just continue to get busier each season. Our struggle is how to keep up with the demand.
