Four questions with Kristen Valera, founder of Sips and Sizzles.
Why did you start your business?
My true love is food (and of course, a good cocktail!), and wanted to give myself an outlet to explore local CT restaurants and through my travels (domestic and international). Through the creation of my food Instagram, @sipsandsizzles, I have been tracking my food experiences through photos, videos, and Instagram stories. This is a passion project and I've been enjoying it ever since!
What is your best-selling product/service?
Although I don't have a physical product, a lot of my service is around providing visibility, content such as photos or videos, and giving exposure to local businesses to show their incredible food and drinks!
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
I support a variety of local restaurants and businesses since I consistently post when I get to try something new and great! I'm always looking for new businesses to work with and get their name out there.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?
At first, it was only a food Instagram and started with just food photos but it has gone beyond that; it's about the community and showing what CT (along with other areas) has to offer! There are so many people doing great things with food, drinks, and products. Sips and Sizzles is a platform that helps elevate our community while having some fun too!
