Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Rory's Restaurant!

Four questions with Bryan Malcarney, chef at Rory's Restaurant.

Why did you start your business?

As a chef, I love making people happy. Rory’s has a great vibe and I’m proud to keep the original pub of Darien going!

What is your best-selling product/service?

Great burgers, award-winning chowder, steaks, seafood specials, and more!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We use plenty of local businesses including Paganos Seafood, Fischer Miller craft Butchers, New Wave Seafood, RJR Mase, and many others

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We are constantly creating new specials and menu items to keep up with the changing times while keeping everyone’s favorites. We had to get creative to create outdoor seating with a similar vibe that complimented our indoor dining.
