Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT CHECK Body-Mind!

Three questions with Amber Kemp, founder of CHECK Body-Mind.

Why did you start your business?

I was catapulted into the wellness industry at a young age after growing up struggling with many health issues and finding alternative ways to heal myself mentally and physically. The mission of CHECK Body-Mind is to create a positive community of wellness seekers who desire to keep their bodies and minds in CHECK with our cutting-edge technologies and integrative therapies.

We offer a complete wellness system so there is something for everyone. After what we have all been experiencing together over the past few years, our mental and physical wellness has become of paramount importance. We believe "Health is wealth", and that has a ripple effect on every person in your life.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our best-selling service is the whole body red light bed (aka photobiomodulation). This technology stimulates collagen production, relieves pain, reduces inflammation, and stimulates cellular rejuvenation.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We carry a beautiful jewelry line hand-made by a local artisan. You can find her work at www.bellezalunadesigns.com. We also tend to gift our members and staff organic juices or smoothies from the next-door juice bar, Barvida.

Amber would like to nominate The Eco Dude on Washington Street to be featured next!
