The Darien Community Association Thrift Shop to extend shopping hours for the month of June

To provide our customers with a flexible shopping experience the DCA Thrift Shop will extend its hours, on a trial basis, for the month of June. The DCA Thrift Shop will now remain open on Thursdays until 6:00pm.

The Thrift Shop hopes this change in its operating hours will allow working families and individuals greater access to visit the Thrift Shop. The DCA Thrift Shop is located at 996 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820. Parking is available in the back. The June schedule will be as follows:

Tuesday 10:00am - 4:00pm

Wednesday 10:00am – 4:00pm

Thursday 10:00am - 6:00pm

Friday 10:00am - 4:00pm

Saturday 10:00am - 4:00pm

Please note that donation hours will remain the same, 10:00am – 2:00pm, Tuesday – Saturday. All donations should be dropped off in the back of the building and all gently used clothing must be freshly laundered. Please check the website for a list of items that are accepted for donation, dariendca.org/thrift-shop.

The DCA Thrift Shop was founded in 1931 to supply clothing and food to families in need and to offer employment for women during the Depression. Today’s Thrift Shop is run by volunteers, proud to continue the tradition of helping the community. The Thrift Shop offers clothing, shoes, formal wear, and outerwear for the whole family. It has also expanded the merchandise to include jewelry, books, home furnishings, accessories, and more. Over 1,000 customers make purchases at the shop each month. All profits support the mission of the DCA, including college scholarships for Darien High School graduates.

The DCA is a privately funded nonprofit that does not receive any financial support from the Town of Darien. Since our founding in 1923, we’ve been making our community a nicer place to live, by providing people of all ages with a place to gather, give and learn for the last 100 years.
