Darien Property Tax Relief for Taxpayers Impacted by Pandemic

First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and Tax Collector Kathy Larkins are pleased to announce the availability of additional tax relief for local taxpayers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 28, 2020 the Darien Representative Town Meeting adopted resolution 20-27 which approved the extended benefits as per Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 9R as it applies to tax deadlines and collection efforts for tax bills due and payable on January 1, 2021 with eligibility criteria as set forth by the Office of Policy and Management.  In order to qualify for this program, eligible taxpayers, businesses, nonprofits and residents are those that “attest to or document significant economic impact by COVID-19, and/or those that document they are providing relief to those significantly affected by COVID-19” through an application process.

Residents and business owners may obtain the application form on the Town’s website at www.darienct.gov/collector.   The application deadline is February 1, 2021.

Eligible taxpayers will be able to defer the payment of the following bills issued by the Darien Tax Office with an original due date of January 1, 2021 for an additional 60 days without interest or penalties:

Bill Type                                                             Last Day to Pay
